The ArtsAlive! Living Learning Community students made 20 blankets for pre-school children in the Winona Head Start program as part of a Lasallian outreach service project. The students conducted monthly arts workshops for the children of the Maplewood Homes community including chalk art, a Halloween costume making workshop, painting, skits and songs, and more. Not did students donate their time, they also learned new skills and provided the gift of winter warmth to low-income children. The project fit with the ArtsAlive! LLC curriculum, including Gregory Boyle’s book “Tattoos on the Heart” and studies about John Baptist de La Salle and his work with the early free schools for the poor.
