Heidi Ledermann is a freshman from Mahtomedi, Minn., who admits that she is either skiing … or she’s thinking about skiing. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and interest in skiing is rapidly growing across the Winona Campus. Working with the university, she spearheaded the formation of a new Nordic Ski Club with 21 members of varying abilities and interests, both competitive and recreational.
During the club’s start-up year, Ledermann has focused on obtaining coaching, budgeting, and scheduling. She’s also working closely with the Office of Admission in recruiting other passionate skiers. Saint Mary’s offers a unique opportunity for ski enthusiasts, with 16.5K of trails on campus, 2.5K of lighted trails, snowmaking equipment, and a ski center.
