In recognition of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, Saint Mary’s held events to recognize and encourage women leaders on the Winona Campus and in the community. The S.O.U.L. (Serving Others United in Love) group sponsored by Campus Ministry is now offering weekend service opportunities to make community-building and social justice experiences available to more students. A group of seven women did service work at Rochester locations including Dorothy Day Hospitality House, Family Services, and the Franciscan Sisters at Assisi Heights. The weekend also featured speakers on domestic violence and human trafficking.
Our Kabara Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies hosted a women entrepreneurs’ forum for students and the public. Three local business owners shared their successes and challenges, and offered tips for women who aspire to operate their own businesses. And, Campus Ministry and the Saint Teresa Leadership Club sponsored a panel on “Women in Leadership: Connecting faith, service, and professional lives.”
