Biology students helped gather data on invasive carp during a Minnesota fishing tournament.

Invasive carp were on the minds of four environmental biology majors who helped Dr. Josh Lallaman collect information on fish species harvested during the Chisago Lakes Lions Club Carp Festival. This annual fishing tournament encourages anglers to help reduce the number of invasive common carp in Chisago-area lakes. Our team (Angela Soto, John Ethen, Sarah Sieracki, and Jack Strusz) partnered with environmental consulting firm Emmons and Olivier Resources and Chisago County to collect detailed information from each fish brought in by over 100 anglers. This data will help inform fisheries management decisions in area lakes.
